Schoeps
Mic Case: M221, CMT, CMC Series
Up for consideration is a vintage Schoeps CMT single microphone
case. I have tested it with M221B and CMT mics and both models
fit in the case fine. However, some of the original foam has
eroded away, and so the fit is not at all snug as it was originally.
This can be remedied by either wrapping the mic in a plastic
bag (which is recommended anyway to keep any dust out of the
capsule) or to wrap the mic in plastic bubble wrap
Of course, any vintage CMC series mic will also fit in there
fine. It probably was an original OEM CMT case. All SDCs from
any maker will fit as long as your mic is 6" in overall
length or less.
CONDITION
Considering that this case is more than 40 years old,
it is in very good condition. As noted above, the inside foam
has mostly crumbled, but otherwise this case is in pretty good
shape. It would be relatively easy to refurbish it with new foam
and reglue the blue felt. It is made in Germany, so no wonder
the thing has held up so well!
