Warm Audio has not only done it again, but they have done the impossible -- a recreation of the vintage U74 tube mic that is good enough to hang with the $10 vintage originals. Warm Audio is an amazing success story for producing great-sounding, affordable recreations of many of the all time studio classics, but this time they really have outdone themselves by producing a U47 tube mic using all top-of-the-line components -- especially the capsule and AMI transformer and creating an accurate reproduction U47 while keeping the price under $1k. So now there is no need to chase after a vintage $10 mic that will need expensive upkeep and repair, but right out of the box have a faithful U47 sound that has the support and backing of a mic in current production.
