Neumann KK64 VINTAGE CAPSULE
Up for consideration is a vintage Neumann KK54/64 cardioid
capsule and adapter collar for the KM-54 and KM-254 microphones.
This capsule is plug and play with the KM-54 and KM-254, and
will also work with the KM-53 with slight modification. These
KM-64 mics are highly coveted for acoustic instruments, especially
guitar, and overheads. You will find these vintage Neumann KM
mics in widespread use in all the great recording studios, like
Abbey
Road, where they still use ten KM54s, five KM64s, and
twenty-Two KM-84s!!! On the vintage market, a Neumann KM-64 sells
for $3,000 and even the KM-84 sells for $1,000, so here is your
chance to pick up a very nice sounding KK54/64 capsule, at a
tremendous discount!!!

CONDITION
This capsule adapter is in good condition for 40 or so
years of service, with obviously a section of the adapter collar
grill missing, but otherwise just minor scratches from normal

DPI Hi-Res Photos. The threads on the capsule are too
tight to remove the KK64 capsule head, but this capsule sounds
wonderful, with excellent bass response. I used it briefly for
tracking Classical
Harp Guitar, and it sounds warm, detailed and very musical.
The previous owner used it only for 30 hours over the last 10
years. This is a great way to turn your KM-54 into a KM64 for
a small fraction of the cost.
