Many people have a 1x PUP vintage mid-1960s Melody Maker, but do not realize that there is a plug and play replacement Mini HB available that requires no additional routing. This pickguard is exactly such a thing -- this is a wired pickguard with a GFS Alnico Mini HB, that fits your 1963-5 Melody Maker (the body style just before they went to the SG shape) without having to ruin the vintage value of your guitar with a custom route. So this is the best of both worlds, you can swap into Mini HB PUPS in your Melody Maker with no worries about not being able to reverse it back to stock.

Installation instructions: 1) Remove the ground wire from the stock PUP assembly; 2) Soldier that ground wire to the back of the pot of the new assembly; 3) re-use the existing screws, and this new PG lines up exactly with the old holes with no drilling required. NOTE: depending on your MM route, you may have to snip off the ends of one of the the PUP Ring screws, or substitute a shorter screw if it hits the wood outside the route. You will need a soldering iron to install this wired pickguard. Also, the GFS is 4-wire for coil splitting, but currently the PG is wired in the HB mode only. This gets your vintage MM more into the SG territory with this simple inexpensive, and reversible mod.
