Up for consideration is a brand new product for people like me who love the vintage transformerless mics dynamic mics, but hate the lack of tone and output due to the severe impedance mismatch from using 1940s mics going in modern preamps. The transformerless mics are 20-Ohms, and also like to see a lower input impedance from the preamp. This little box does exactly that, allowing you to bring back the vintage tone and higher output to these classic dynamic mics. The input is designed for all 20-Ohm transformerless dynamics, like the Western Electric / Altec 632 / 633 series, and the older STC / Coles 4021C Ball and Bisquit mics. The transformer ads around 10 dB to the signal, and fills out the tone more bass and mids. Then the output impedance is wired to see 600-Ohms at the preamp, optimizing these classic dynamic + ribbon mics for use with today's modern preamps.

An alternate use is for folks who keep a transformerless SM57 on snare, and this box puts the previously-removed SM57 transformer back in the signal path, giving you the sound and higher output of the stock SM57, when used on quiet sources other than snare drum.
