Walking Stick Recorder / wooden flute
Here is something that you don't see every day -- or even every decade -- an extremely rare, Stephan Koch, Walking Stick Recorder / Wooden Flute, from Vienna, Austria, c. 1820s. This is one of just two known Walking Stick Recorders, the other was sold in Vancouver about 20 years ago. So here is a super-rare opportunity to acquire a museum-quality recorder of historical significance, made by perhaps the most sought-after of all European woodwind builders of the 19th century, Stephan Koch of Vienna.
The recorder is in remarkably good condition for being of this vintage, just with some small scratches and dings. The recorder shows the original stamp twice: "S. Koch, Wien." Very good playing condition, with 3 original bone rings, one solid silver key, original brass cover at the end of the recorder, the bottom part is slightly bent. Total Length = 85.1 cm, diameter at the top = 3.7 cm.
