Omni Pattern, 20 Ohm Transformerless, w/Cathedral Transformer

Up for sale is a vintage 1930s Western Electric / Altec 632C dynamic mic in good condition. This Salt Shaker mic was designed for omni response in the vertical position, and it gains some cardioid properties as well as tonal variety as you tilt it to the horizontal. These mics that were designed for preamps that are no longer made, as 20 Ohm transformerless mics are not optimized with modern preamp. However, this mic includes a 20 Ohm to 600 Ohm transformer adapter, containing a Shure transformer coupled with a 600 Ohm output, giving the mic additional gain and a fuller tone when used with modern preamps. These vintage Western Electric / Altec dynamic mics are a lot of fun to own and use, as they are quite often useful for several things, and don't cost too much money. This model also has a wonderful industrial design that might be inspirational in itself. The mic is hefty, and built like a tank. Comes with the original swivel mount, a hardwired mic cable, and the Cathedral 20-600 Ohm transformer adapter.
