Up for consideration is a new mic by Oliver Archut of Archut Manufacturing Inc., -- the F44 cardioid condenser. This is an upgraded version of a mic they used to manufacture for Mercenary Audio, the highly-regarded KM69 -- but with a 6-8 dB lower self-noise, flatter high-end resonse, and at a substantially discounted price. These are wonderful mics, with a classic sound in the family of the KM84, and are fantastic for acoustic instruments, piano, overheads, and high hat.
