Should
anyone reading this have an interest in walking the Camino, I have a few things
to share. One is that the route I took,
called the Camino Francés, is not the only route. There are routes that come up through Portugal, from Madrid, the
coastal route (the Camino del Mar) and so forth. People start from all over. I saw the Camino shell in Bavaria; some have walked from St. Petersburg.
Two
recommendations, one for a guide book, the other for a forum to answer your
questions.

For those planning to take the Camino
Francés, I heartily recommend John Brierley's A Pilgrim's Guide to the Camino
de Santiago. He has other books for the
Camino Portugés and the Camino Finisterre, the latter being the walk from
Santiago de Compostela to sea. Just
make sure you have the latest edition.
Brierley's website is at: http://www.caminoguides.com/guide.html
If you are spiritually minded, you might find the
Self-Review, located at the top of the page, of interest.

For more background on the man, you might check out: http://johnniewalker-santiago.blogspot.com/2010/05/john-brierley-and-inner-journey.html
Finally, for any questions you might have, the Camino de
Santiago Forum is an invaluable source: http://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/
Now,
back to the Way.
