This is a Cathedral Guitar exclusive -- as we are the only dealer offering the AMI T58 transformer upgrade on a new SM58 -- which catapults this workhorse mic up several notches, bringing it in line with the highly coveted vintage SM58, but without the decades of vocal use / abuse. So here is a great opportunity to get this supercharged dynamic mic for a very modest investment!!!

PREMODDED SM58
The T58 transformer has been around for a few years, and there are several DIY mods for installing the transformer upgrade -- one of which involves boiling the mic (!!!) to remove the old transformer. Rather than having to experience that, we are offering a professional mod service (work done by Avenson Audio) where you get a brand new mic professionally upgraded by experienced audio professionals. Also, the AMI logo is laser engraved on the front of the mic, so you will always know which one is the "good one." Transformer upgrades to your existing SM57/58 will be available shortly.

UNIDYNE III SOUND
The vintage SM58 actually used a very good transformer back in the day, but in order to keep the SM58 sales price fixed at $100 over the past several decades, the manufacturing operations were moved to Mexico, and the original stock transformer has been replaced by a low cost transformer with inferior sound quality. This has caused the resale price of the vintage Unidyne IIIs to catapult over $200 for a 30+ year old worn out dynamic mic. We solve that problem by offering a brand new mic with the proper high-quality transformer, to resore the SM58 to its former glory.

The classic SM58 is a workhorse mic that can has been used on probably billions of records!!! It is a universal vocal mic that does practically everything well, amd sounds great on most voices and is a staple for live sound.
