|SOLD Gibson 1966 SG Junior
All Original Parts (except Output Jack)
Weight: 5 Lbs., 13 oz.
Everybody wants 1960s Gibsons, but usually they are priced out of range for most players. Here is a very nice vintage 1966 Gibson SG Junior that plays great and sounds fantastic, with the original 1960s Gibson P-90. All the parts here are original, except for the output jack. Here is a golden opportunity to pick up a vintage Gibson SG Junior -- at a price that does not break the bank.
The guitar is in fair condition with several chips and dings that can be seen in the photos. There is a corner missing on the pickgrard, and also a crack at the output jack, and also at the other end of the control cavity. It is not a break, but it does look like there was an incident, not on my watch, that caused the crack and probably was when the output jack was replaced. Finish is overall very good, showing the finish crackling and numerous dings, but overall looks like it was protected from major pick marks or buckle rash.
Structurally, the guitar is 100% stable, and it is the 1 9/16th neck width, and the profile has a slight thin to thick taper that became more pronounced in the 70s necks. The neck is very comfortable to play, and the P90 in this guitar is one of the best rock sounds you could ever hope for -- as the solid 1-piece Honduran Mahogany combined with the vintage Gibson P90 is a match made in heaven.
