Gen 3 Case for SG, Sonex, LP Junior/Special
Very Good Condition
Guitar Not Included
Here is a really nice, mid-1980s Norlin-era Protector Gen 3 guitar case. It is in very good condition cosmetically, and fully functional. Note that it is the type Gen 3 that does not have a case strap to hold the lid in the open position. It stays open on the hinges just fine with a guitar in the case, and leans backwards a bit when unloaded. It is missing the Gibson logo on the front of the case, but all the hinges and latches work perfectly, and the interior case compartment lid works fine as well. No actual guitar is included.
It fits the SG, Sonex 180, Invader and all the non-carved slab LP shapes like the LP Special and the JR perfectly. It currently has a slightly tighter fit on the LP standard, with its thicker, carved top. It fits the body profile great, but is a little bit tight when closing the case lid. The foam will compress and fit the LP carved-top types just fine over time, but it will may remain tight for a few weeks as the foam compacts 1/2" or so and adjusts to the new LP body form, as this case has housed a thinner-slab Gibson Invader for the last 30 years.
