1933 Gibson L10 16" Archtop SOLD
2nd Owner, Good Conditon
Ameritage Hardshell Case
Kent Armstrong Low Profile HB Pickup
Width: 1 11/16th (44.3mm)
Up for sale is something you don't see very often -- a 1933 Gibson L10 Archtop offered for sale by the second owner of the guitar!! The original owner was a pro player on the East Coast, and this was his back-up guitar. The guitar plays and sounds great, and is a fantastic acoustic/electric instrument, and lives up to the highest standards associated with pre-war Gibson archtops.
Cosmetically, it does have the original paint, with some touch-up overspray here and there. The tuners, bridge and tailpiece are original. The original pickguard was deteriorating, so the replacement pickguard was made from the profile of the original, and incorporated the Original Binding of the 1933 pickguard!!
Structurally, the 16" Parallel-Braced guitar is in great shape. The arch on the top is prefect, with no sag, and the acoustic sound is rich and full, among the very best archtops I have ever heard.
Basically, this is an L5 with a mahogany neck, painted black, and with less bling, so this is a fantastic-sounding Pre-War Gibson archtop. It has been recently re-fretted, and it also has a new nut, so it plays perfectly. Comes with an Ameritage Pro case. Google "Gibson L10 site:m221b|DOT|com" and you will get dozens of sound clips of this guitar.
