* SOLD * Vintage 1965 Gibson Maestro Short Arm Vibrola / Tremolo
* SOLD *
Complete Tailpiece System,
including Original 3x Spacers, 3x Screws
Excellent condition, Guitar Not Included
Up for sale is a complete Maestro Short Vibrola tailpiece unit, complete with the arm, mounting plate, spring, spacers and even the original screws. It is rare to find the complete vibrola unit for sale with all the original parts intact, including the original black felt padding under the spring unit!! The vibrola came from a 1965 Kalamazoo KG-1a, and will fit the SG Special, SG Junior and Melody Makers from the mid 60s, and was probably used on a few other Gibson-made Epiphone models as well.
The unit is is extremely good condition for 1965. The unit looks like it has the original vintage screw, and it threads properly to tighten against the base plate, but there is no nut on the end, so the screw tightens to hold the arm in place, but if you move the arm counter clockwise, it will loosen, so you might want to replace the screw with a longer one and add a nut to it to hold it, if needed. The vibrola looks and operates perfectly, and should be exactly the part needed for a vintage 1960s Gibson restoration. I have rarely seen one looking this clean, or this new looking. The guitar it came from was a closet-sitter for 50 years, so it is really a remarkable find.
