Up for consideration is a pair of vintage Neumann U89 multi-pattern condenser
microphone from 1983 (2 mics available with close serial #s ). The classic U89 mics are highly coveted by pro studios because they sound great on most everything, take EQ and compression well, and have the polished, well-recognized Neumann sound. These are especially loved for Jazz / Classical / Folk / Acoustic music, for their natural sound and warmth, and flat response. You will find these U89 mics in
widespread use in all the great recording studios, as well as by location recordists. Featuring the K89 capsule, the U89 is the original transformer-based mic from the U89 / TLM 170 / TLM193 family, but made traditionally, without surface mount components, in the classic Neumann way. New, these mics sell for $3200 each, so here is a great opportunity to get a closely matched vintage pair, with swivel mounts, for about the cost of a single mic!!!

1983 U89 HISTORY
